“If where we are isn’t good enough, love, healing and God will remain forever out of reach.” – Deepak Chopra

All of our heads are filled with reasons as to why we are not good enough. And by “filled”, I mean literally. No one needs any further criticism from anyone as we have all been programmed by society to be most critical of all of ourselves. What we do need is a way to get in touch with our infinite ‘goodness’ – our Higher Self, God Self and Soul. To remember who we are and why we are here. To realize that each and every one of our lives are worthy and beautiful no matter what size you are, how much money you have or how you got here.

Whether you are on plan B, C or X of your life, here is where you are: now. Life can and only ever does exist in the now – the present moment is all there is and in it exists every opportunity, hope, dream and possible version of yourself that you could ever imagine. What is your dream? We want to be great – the best versions of ourselves and we admire those who “get there”, often assuming that they must have something we do not. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nothing could keep us as far away from our dreams as the belief that in order to be great we must be different than who we are now.

Who we are is exactly who any of us “should be” in order to be the greatest version of ourselves but how many of us spend much time – if any – really discovering and learning about who we really are? Most of us are too distracted and we, as a society, wear the cloak of “busy” like a badge of honour, never stopping to consider for just a moment that the very act of keeping stimulated is preventing us from knowing ourselves…

The space, the gap, the awareness around the form we perceive as self, is where stillness speaks volumes..

Everything we want, we want because we believe we will feel better in the having of it. However, what is there to possess in a world of impermanence? A world made up of energy in constant, eternal motion… There is nothing we can hold onto for very long and once we realize this, we may finally be able to let go of the idea of filling our void from the outside in (clogging up our vessel) and instead, allow the light to pour forth from within, shining through our form.

We love because it feels good to love and be loved. We give because it feels good to give to others, but too often we carry a belief underneath the skin, in between the words we say, and in our body language that says, “we are not worthy of the same love and acceptance we bestow on another”. We believe and have been taught by many human-created doctrines of obedience that we must “earn” our love, “prove” our worthiness and “ask for permission” to exist freely on Earth. And because human beings are so incredibly powerful and amazing, we will always find ways to push ourselves harder in order to get “the place” where we feel good, loved and where we feel “at home” again.

We aim “higher” because we believe we will feel better about ourselves when we reach “that place” which society promises will deliver “approval” and therefore “relief” for our weary minds, but when we cannot love ourselves and give to ourselves exactly as we are, when we compare ourselves to others and beat ourselves up for being in our view “less than” another, it does not feel good. Therein lies the rub – by comparing ourselves to others and striving to be “like them”, we think we will find a way to love ourselves by looking outside ourselves to another endeavour, but we only go deeper into illusion by externalizing and projecting into “an idea” of who we “think” we “should” be.

Go a little deeper and see that the real cure to that which ails us lies within: Acceptance. Self-love. Living in the moment. Embracing what is. Surrender.

We are all trying so hard to live life well. Inside our minds we struggle to figure it all out, worrying about the future, often regretting the past, and all the while letting our lives, our happiness and our greatness pass us by. If we do not pay attention and learn how to get present in the now, we will miss the greatest opportunity of our lives – the living of them.

We all need to figure out how to “get good” and accept where we are now before we even think about being great. To know thyself is to heal thyself and – to heal thyself is ultimately to make ourselves whole by loving and accepting ourselves because when we do that, unlimited divine potential is what has to come through you. These are the universal principles of conscious physics and they apply to every one of us…

Nothing could keep us as far away from our dreams as the believe that in order to be great, we must be different than who we are now.

2021 Update

What is love but being here now? Embracing what is and surrendering to the flow… the Tao is often compared to water…

Tao-Te Ching Verse 8: Flow Like Water

The highest good is like water.
Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.

In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
In ruling, be just.
In business, be competent.
In action, watch the timing.

No fight: No blame.

- Tao Te Ching by Lao Tsu

The pollution of the planet is only an outward reflection of an inner psychic pollution: millions of unconscious individuals not taking responsibility for their inner space.

Eckart Tolle

“Good” directly implies that there must be a “bad” and therefore, if I were to rename this blog in 2021, I would reframe it as the search for inner “peace” or “balance” within the great flow of life. Alignment creates peace and supports balance. The Now is the portal to being at peace. It does not mean that when we are not present in the now that we are “wrong”. However, most of humanity is unconsciously living in past or present in an endless pursuit of happiness that keeps us avoiding the now ~ the place where we finally meet ourselves and start to tune into the power of our consciousness.

Every time I catch myself trying to “get” somewhere, I practice pulling my consciousness back into the present moment. Even if I am literally driving or walking “somewhere”, it is each step that informs the next; therefore, if I am focused on the destination while I am walking, I will actually miss the purpose of going. This realization has brought me closer to knowing that life is happening for us, not to us ~ the divine co-creation happens in the moment we are in. When one experiences that for real, nothing “gets better” and the practice is being.

Over the decades I continue to be with the Tao and allow its wisdom to guide me. Many interpretations of the Tao and water point to the fluidity, ease and softness of water ~ its ability to bed and flex around the hardest and most rigid of forms ~ water teaches us the meaning of love… what could be more powerful than that?

Water teaches us how to bend and never break. We may learn patience and humility from water. We may allow it to teach us the physics of consciousness as it changes form in response to its environment..

Our thoughts and our voice – even the words printed on our cups – affect the vibration and the integrity of the water we hold.

Everything is connected.

Water is fierce love. Its gentleness and humility allows water to flow into the smallest, darkest and lowest places on Earth – the places where most humans would not “dare” to go. Water seeps into every pore and weeps from our eyes. Water sinks into the ground and pours from the skies. Water is not afraid to fall from any height; it is always transforming.

Water is conscious.

The same water that forms the puddle, creates the flood. Do not miss what the Tao is teaching about water in regards to true strength and power for with great vulnerability comes great strength. In a flash, the same water that sings sweetly in droplets, is the riptide that pulls us underwater, the flood that breaks damns and washes away mountains, the river that breaks damns…

Water is fierce love and it is the life force of consciousness on Earth. Nothing is softer, yet nothing can resist it, or even live without it.

Water is reflection.
