Lately I’ve been talking to a lot of people who are feeling a shift. A change in their lives, perhaps not yet manifested but definitely in transition of some kind. The common theme seems to be that there is a calling for inspired, self-driven change…something the ego isn’t always fond of because it is times like these that really call us to our inner guidance and bring our lives into sync with universal forces. Intuitively I feel a shift myself taking place. What’s very interesting is that this month we are going through a very significant new moon solar eclipse – an eclipse that is supposed to bring a rebirth and reawakening of something significant that occurred in our lives the last time this same solar eclipse happened….exactly 19 year ago.
“Eclipses often bring massive change, for they shake us out of our complacency and provide a floodlight of truth. You might want to think back to September 1 and September 16, 1997, for eclipses repeat in sign, degree, and date every 19 years. Can you recall what you were doing back then? If you can see a theme that arose then, you may again deal with the same theme in a different way now…” – Astrologer, Susan Miller
Well 19 years go was 1997 and in September of that year I was starting Journalism school and falling in love with my now ex-husband…it was a crazy, wonderful time for me. I was driven by a desire to experience new things and follow my creative intuitions to write, to love and to enjoy as much of life as possible… how very interesting. As this September of 2016 rolls in, I find myself opening up to a whole new world of possibilities related to writing and love again but definitely in different ways than I did in 1997.
If the eclipse is meant to re-introduce a similar theme from 19 years ago in a new, more evolved way, then it’s bang on with where I’m at. WellthFullness has never been more important to me than it is right now. Nine days ago I started a cleanse that will last anywhere from 4-6weeks. This will be the longest and most challenging cleanse I have ever done, but I definitely felt guided to it and am prepared and welcoming for that challenge. In the weeks leading up to this cleanse I was feeling really out of touch with my body… sluggish and heavy, cloudy and unmotivated so I asked for solutions and guidance and along the way I was led through my reading to the perfect book, with the perfect suggestions and subsequently the perfect Naturopath who ended up having a cancellation on exactly the day I wanted to see her as that was the day I was returning from holidays. After assessing my health needs she put me on exactly the cleanse I had been guided to and to make everything even better, along the way my best friend decided to join me in said cleansing so now I even have support for the endeavour and together – even sans wine – we are making it super fun. Serendipity at its finest!
What came of my Journalistic writings 20 years ago was a weekly column where I explored the challenges of raising kids holistically in a very symptomatic and reactive society. Every week I received dozens of emails from readers who really enjoyed the column (and some who didn’t) and although that made me feel good, it also felt like a lot of pressure at the time. Two young kids and still not even 30 years old, I often felt overwhelmed and unsure about what I was talking about. I know now that a lot of what I was writing about was also guided and that what matters is not how old you are but how aligned you are, but at the time I didn’t yet know how to live life spontaneously and process everything that was happening at the same time.
Now in some ways I have come full circle and as I sit once again in an office, at a desk together with Spirit and my words, I am faced with the awesome challenge of letting go to rebirth and renew; paying really close attention to the breadcrumbs along the way and staying in touch with my deepest desires. I know it is time for me to make a change and I also know that what that change is will become more clear as this month progresses. Already I can feel the effects of the cleanse reshaping my body and clearing my mind so that I am more open to receive the guidance I need at this time. Already I can feel the pull of the universe nudging a little bit every day in a new (not so new) direction.
At a time like this the ego often wants to take over and make a plan – it wants to take charge and be assertive, motivate you and find satisfaction in being heard but there is no plan worth manifesting that isn’t hatched in alignment with the universe and your inner being for there is nothing the ego can concoct that could compare to what the universe has in store for you (though it would like for you to think otherwise). The ego loves to make us worry, panic and create drama – especially in times of uncertainty and eclipses are certainly good for that…in fact it’s doing a bang up job these days of bugging me about what my ex would think about my endeavors when in truth, I could care less! And yet, it nags and pulls and tries to make me care. Luckily the universe keeps speaking to me to counteract this – through my yoga teacher bluntly stating that in order to live our truth we must listen our hearts and not be concerned with what other people think, to the book I bought yesterday which turns out has the one, single theme of finding one’s “Personal Legend” or childhood dream – a book I wasn’t shopping for but bumped into as if it was placed exactly “in my way”.
This is why I believe that it is at times like these – the in-between times – especially that we must surrender the most for it is only in the receptive mode where we can truly receive clear guidance and therefore effect change. The guidance is always there…
If nothing else the last four years have taught me to be open to possibilities beyond my wildest expectations but just as importantly I have learned that the space in-between big shifts is some of the most precious time we have. These are the times when we can take a pause and connect with ourselves and the Divine. These are the times when anything is possible and if we are patient and willing to receive, we will be guided to exactly what we want and then some. It isn’t anything anyone can do for you or to you. It is your own, quiet soul work and it is magical.
If we let it.
Let the in-between serve you. Work with this uncertainty rather than against it. Know that the universe is always working with us and through us even when we can’t see the full picture we can choose to trust that it is so. A little bit of faith goes a lot farther than a lot of worry.
Though worry can cause us to act, the motivator behind that action is the fear of what might happen if we don’t act. The fear of losing control. The fear of change. The fear of what someone else might think. Fear driven action is motivated by the ego mind and it may cause you to act before you are ready or, it may cause you to avoid action all together for fear that any decision will be wrong (analysis-paralysis).
Whereas inspired action is a calling from the Divine through you and to you. When you allow yourself to align with your inner being you will know when action serves you best. There is no doubt or fear and if there is you can recognize it for the pretender that it is. Inspired action can be very exciting but within it feels calm, deliberate and intentional. There is a knowing associated with inspired action to such a degree that the only comparison I can draw for it is like the knowing that you are in love. You can’t explain it and often it isn’t rational or even expected, but it just is and you know it with every fibre of your being. It’s real and you can’t deny that it must be so.
The in-between can be frustrating. It can bring out many demons but it is filled with omens. It is there to ease us through transition and the more we can embrace it, the better we will come out the other side. Let it work for you, not against you and use it to really find a deeper connecting to who you are and what you desire. Albert Einstein said that the vibration of a solution is completely different than the vibration of the problem… what I have come to know is that it is in the space in-between where we allow the vibration of the solution to enter. By letting the perceived problem or dilemma go we create space for our Inner Being and the Divine to enter and help us see. We create an openness with which to receive. Embrace the in-between and allow it to guide you to that which you seek.
“It’s a force that appears to be negative, but actually shows you how to realize your Personal Legend. It prepares your spirit and your will, because there is on great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on earth…The Soul of the World is nourished by people’s happiness.”
